Course Curriculum: The PMO-CB® Certification Training (21 Hours)

This 21-hour curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive and intensive learning experience that moves beyond basic project management. The training is structured around the official PMO Framework® from the PMO Global Institute (PMOGI), ensuring you gain the strategic mindset and practical tools to lead a PMO that delivers quantifiable business value.

The training is divided into key modules, blending theoretical knowledge with real-world case studies and hands-on exercises to ensure you can immediately apply what you learn.

Module 1: The Foundation Layer (5 Hours)

• Business Objective: Understanding how a PMO’s purpose links directly to the organization’s strategic goals.

• PMO Strategy & Processes: Defining the PMO’s strategy to align with business objectives and designing supporting processes.

   

• PMO Structure: Determining the optimal structure for your PMO to maximize its effectiveness.

• Health Check & Maturity Assessment: Learning to evaluate your PMO’s current state and capabilities using the PMOGI’s official methodology.

   

• PMO Roadmap & Charter: Developing a clear, actionable roadmap and charter to guide the PMO’s evolution.

   

Module 2: The Executable Layer (6 Hours)

• Policy, Procedure & Governance (2PG®): Establishing the formal policies, procedures, and governance that provide oversight, decision-making authority, and accountability within the PMO.

   

• Project Portfolio Management: Mastering the skills to prioritize, select, and manage project portfolios that align with organizational strategies.

   

• Performance Metrics & KPIs: Defining and using effective key performance indicators to measure and communicate the PMO’s value and performance.

   

• Proof of Concept: Learning how to set up small-scale, testable projects to validate PMO strategies before a large-scale rollout.

   

Module 3: The Supporting & Leadership Layers (7 Hours)

• PMO Functions & Technology: Defining the core services of your PMO and identifying the essential tools and technology required to support them.

• Stakeholder Management: Building strong relationships and gaining executive sponsorship to ensure the PMO’s initiatives are supported at all levels.

   

• PMO Team Structure & Succession Planning: Defining clear roles, responsibilities, and a plan for talent development to ensure the PMO’s long-term success.

   

• PMO Leadership & Emotional Intelligence: Acquiring the leadership skills and emotional intelligence necessary to handle resistance to change and lead transformative initiatives.

   

Module 4: Exam Preparation & Next Steps (3 Hours)

• Exam Content & Format: A detailed breakdown of the PMO-CB® exam, including the types of questions and time management strategies for the 120-minute, 100-question exam.

• Practice Questions: Working through sample questions and exercises to build confidence and prepare for the certification.

• Final Q&A: An open session to address any remaining questions and solidify your understanding before the certification exam.
